“I sought out meditative yoga on the recommendation of my cardiologist and by chance was introduced to Madhu. Since working with Madhu one on one, in class and at workshops, I have seen amazing results in my physical health, energy levels and mental “quietness”. Practicing yoga along with other exercise and a change in diet my cholesterol has dropped in half, I’ve lost 10-15 pounds and I have less frequent chest pain.Thank you, Madhu for helping me feel great, inside and out!”
“Madhu’s style of yoga is very meditative and focused. It is amazing how she can sense a students energy and determine the right moves to do or the right feedback to give. In class the other day my stomach was upset and she knew - she came by and pressed on my back without saying anything other than she felt an energy block and my nausea went away. I leave her class feeling as if I have given my body and spirit a nice treat.”

“Madhu has an amazing skill set of bringing the class to a deep relaxation state of being. I lucked out when it came to yoga instructors, she’s the best of the best! Having had the classes, I could feel a physical change in my body and it really helped relieve the anxiety I had been experiencing through the deep breathing and poses. I recommend her to anyone.”
“Madhu’s classes have been a journey of discovery for me throughout the last 7 years or so. I thought yoga was exercise in the beginning and clomped through her classes with the goal of strength and endurance. In the beginning it was a joy to me just to have someone as kind as Madhu teach me how to attempt yoga poses since I had always thought they were something only athletic people could do. I started to become very attached to some of the poses she taught me, and the tree pose in particular, which showed me a reserve of balance and energy I never knew I had. However, without my being completely aware that it was occurring, Madhu taught me something much more important than the correct stance for a pose; she taught me how to breathe so that the breath is nourishing. To understand what I mean, check in with your body a few times over the coming day and see how many times you find yourself holding your breath. Now take a deep breath and see how much better you feel. Madhu is the gift which taught and continues to teach me how to engage with the world in this much more satisfying way. But wait! That is not all, for, as Madhu says, there is always a next step in creating a stronger and healthier mind and body connection. It has taken me a while, but now I understand how and what it means to release closed areas of my body which hold my daily and lifelong accumulated stress. Unpacking negative energy is a lifelong process and I cannot imagine how I would have arrived at this state of awareness about being able to do something about this stress without Madhu’s teaching. While I am in overall good health, I do have the occasional injuries, tight or pulled muscles, and all it takes is a brief mention of the condition to Madhu before class. She makes accommodations and talks me through how to redistribute energy and breath to the problem so that I am not re-injured in class; and because of this I have healed more quickly than I thought possible. I have never had to skip a class because I did not feel well or because I have an injury because I know that the class will make whatever is bothering me better.I’ve learned that these healing technique apply not only to bodily injuries, but also the micro-aggressions we all experience every day, from traffic, to our cranky children, to that annoying person at work. Having tools to take in daily stress and not allow it to accumulate in my body has been a life changing experience. Whereas before I was rather an expert on stealth and long-term storage of tension and stress in my hips, lower back, and shoulders, I now feel the tension as it creeps near and am able to keep it out of my body in ways I would never have thought possible before. Stress stored in the body is not inevitable. It can be treated with loving kindness, awareness, and self-care. However, the techniques must be taught through repeated active attention to one’s body through the loving kindness of an expert, and there is no better example of this than Madhu. As you can see, Madhu’s teachings operate on several levels. There are the immediate healing benefits of her style of slow, energy-focused, meditative yoga classes, which never overwhelm in terms of the physical stamina required because she is able to incorporate just the right amount of meditation and stretching at the beginning of class to prepare the body for the higher level poses. The next level is the feeling of calmness and joy at the end of class because your body has reunited with itself and reset your approach to life for the next few days. Then, finally, the classes operate in the long-term ways I describe above, where, over time, you learn how to breathe, protect yourself from the negative energy which is always trying to find a way into your body, and live your life in a different, calmer, mindful way. Madhu continues to help me rise up to this challenge and makes it an amazing journey along the way.”
“Madhu’s approach to yoga is both simple and profound. Her way of introducing poses has the effect of easing my body into the positions and focusing my intention on the movements which results in greatly increased strength and balance. I have found a true connection with my body during our yoga sessions and this has helped me to regain my health. I am not exaggerating when I say that Madhu has helped me to heal my Parkinson’s and I stand straighter and walk much more freely.”
“All I knew about Yoga came from TV. Then, 5 years ago at the age of 78 after I had a TIA, I was introduced to Madhu and discovered the “real” Yoga. She taught me how to breathe correctly and gave me the tools to reduce stress. When I dislocated my shoulder 2 years ago, Madhu fine-tuned each session to help heal and strengthen both shoulders - her warm healing hands always seem to take away my aches and pains and she intuitively senses my needs, customizing each private session. Now that I’m 83 years young, Madhu has made such a positive impact in my life that I continue to maintain weekly sessions with her to stay grounded in mind, body and spirit.”
